It’s perfect for all…
Bowls truly is the sport for all, regardless of age, gender or physical ability. The pace and lack of contact means you’ll often find children playing with adults and people of different abilities and fitness levels on the same team. Despite what you might think, it’s not just a sport for retirees – check out some YouTube videos! We have under-25s and under-18 players as well. See for yourself…..bowls is fun!
There’s a social side too...
Don’t forget the socialising – you don’t have to be playing and competing. Croydon Bowls & Sports Club puts on regular social functions, quizzes, events, theatre trips and outings. There are opportunities to join the club committees or volunteer in the day-to-day running of the club. If you just want to play with your friends in the afternoon, there’s nothing stopping you. You can have a cuppa or even breakfast or lunch in the Club’s restaurant or a drink in our comfortable, well-stocked bar – at very reasonable prices.
A low-impact, therapeutic way to get active…
You won’t realise how much walking you do until you actually play it. You can walk three miles while you’re playing. You’re only doing 30m stints at a time, but you’re doing a lot of them. On top of the walking, your arms will get a workout as you perfect your bowling technique and your leg muscles will develop as you lunge into the throw.
Benefits of lawn bowls…
Health professionals recommend playing bowls, as it provides a number of important benefits, including:
- improved fitness
- improved coordination and skill development
- increased confidence and self-esteem
- enhanced mental wellbeing
- community connectedness and support.
